I just realized why it’s so hard to let you go.

I thought it was because I thought I loved you, but I don’t think that’s true and I don’t think I do. It’s more because you made me feel safe when we were together. I don’t know why and I don’t know how but you did, you really really did. You know that saying “home is whenever I’m with you”? Yeah, it finally makes sense. The only other place I feel completely safe and secure is at home, home with my mother and my baby brother. It’s such a rare feeling that I almost never fully feel and I’m scared to lose it once and for all.

Maybe that’s why I want you back in my life, one way or another. Since togetherness didn’t exactly work out, maybe a friendship will suffice. Almost like a security blanket I’m too scared to leave behind, I just can’t seem to completely let you go. Because, maybe someday and maybe one day, I may just need to feel the comfort that you bring.

I guess I’d just rather have you there than not at all.
